FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., December 14, 2025 — Suits, Stilettos & Lipstick Foundation (SSL), in partnership with the Fort Lauderdale Black Police Officers Association (FLBPOA), will bring the spirit of the season directly to children in Fort Lauderdale as part of its 24th Annual John and Elizabeth’s Toy Drive. This year, the community wide initiative is distributing nearly 5,000 toys to children at seven schools and three community programs throughout Broward County.

“For 24 years, the John and Elizabeth’s Toy Drive has been about far more than gifts,” said Dr. Elizabeth King, Ed.D., LCSW, CHt, educator and mental health expert, and Founder and Chief Inspiration Officer of SSL. “My late husband, John Weaver, and I started this Toy Drive in our home with the simple belief that every child deserves to feel remembered. Today, I am honored to continue John’s legacy by ensuring children receive toys that support learning, cognitive development, emotional growth, and a sense of dignity and belonging.”
Up to date, the John and Elizabeth’s Toy Drive has delivered more than 85,000 toys, and with this year’s distribution, the
program will have provided nearly 90,000 toys to children across South Florida over the past 24 years.
Founded and led by SSL, the John and Elizabeth’s Toy Drive has served the community for 24 years and is carried out in
close partnership with FLBPOA, which has supported the program for the past four years. Volunteers from both
organizations work side by side to shop for, wrap, and distribute the toys directly to children at local schools and programs.
Additional organizations, including the Central Beach Alliance, Toys for Tots, Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association,
Rainbow Sports League, Weatherby Healthcare, Jazwares, Galleria International Realty at Compass, Compass, local
beach condominium buildings, and generous private donors, supported the Toy Drive by collecting toys, raising funds, and
mobilizing their networks to help reach children in need in Broward County.
More than a distribution, the John and Elizabeth’s Toy Drive is one of the largest community based toy drives in South
Florida and reflects Fort Lauderdale’s deep commitment to compassion, civic engagement, and collective care for its
youngest residents.
