About One Billion Rising:
This Valentine’s Day, ONE BILLION women and men in 184 countries (and counting!) will come together as one global movement led by local activists addressing the themes of justice through art, indomitable presence, direct demands and global solidarity as we RISE and bring about revolutionary justice.
The campaign began as a call to action based on the staggering UN statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. Imagine One Billion women and the people who love them, dancing, releasing their stories and demanding justice until the violence stops. The earth will surely move and violence against women and girls will surely end, because it can. One Billion people gathering across the globe cannot be ignored. We need YOU, your friends, your ORGANIZATIONS to come and BE COUNTED. South Florida Will Rise!
