FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Aug. 6, 2024— The Suits, Stilettos and Lipstick (SSL) Foundation will hold its 4th Annual Heidi Dennis Wonder Woman Scholarship Awards Ceremony and Cocktail Reception on Tuesday, August 27, at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort from 6:00-9:00 pm. This year’s event, paired with the annual SSL Day, will honor ten exceptional women from Broward College with scholarships and mentorship opportunities through SSL’s Leaders Inspiring Future Trailblazers (LIFT) Mentorship Program.
On August 25, 2017, SSL Foundation was honored to receive a proclamation and the Key to Broward County in recognition for its work in the community. On August 25, 2021, SSL also received a proclamation from the City of Fort Lauderdale making August 25th “SSL Day in the City of Fort Lauderdale” each year.
Each scholarship recipient will be paired with an SSL mentor for the year to foster personal and professional growth. The annual gathering attracts dignitaries, elected officials, business leaders, and community advocates, highlighting the importance of education and mentorship.

All proceeds are tax-deductible and support SSL’s initiatives to empower women and children through education, mentorship, and community outreach.

Leading the evening’s festivities is celebrity emcee Saira Anwer, a veteran reporter at WPLG-TV Local 10. Media sponsors of the event are WPLG-Local 10 TV and Lifestyle Media Group. The title sponsor and host of the Scholarship Awards Ceremony is the Pelican Grand Beach Resort. Event co-chairs are Dr. Elizabeth Molina, dean of academic affairs and the Education Pathway at Broward College, and Maggie Suazo, vice president, business development officer for the South Florida Region of Capital One Bank. Musical accompaniment for the special evening will be provided and sponsored by Marina Laurendi.

About the Heidi Dennis Wonder Woman Scholarship
This needs-based scholarship provides financial assistance to women who are pursuing higher education or vocational studies to support themselves and advance their careers. It was founded in honor of Heidi Dennis, who served as chairwoman of Suits, Stilettos, and Lipstick Foundation for six years and was the former general manager of the Pelican Grand Beach Resort. Heidi was an industry icon in the hotel business and a true inspiration to all who knew her.
