Every professional woman knows the constant struggle to strike a perfect work-life balance. There is so much guilt that comes with not being able to be at your daughter’s dance recital or your best friend’s wedding because you had to attend an important meeting with a client or you had a hard deadline.
It’s hard to find that right balance, and although everyone’s may be different, I am here to provide 5 tips for curating and sustaining a work-life balance that is right for YOU:
- Meditate
You may be thinking – ok, that’s easier said than done – but hear me out. It’s important to take time out to mediate or just be still for at least 10 minutes per day. You mind is constantly going: thinking, planning and executing. If you don’t give your mind a break, you will burn out. Just add it to your schedule and force yourself to do it. Eventually, it will be a habit you just won’t be able to live without. Think of it as a mini vacation. You will see that when you are rested you will be able to accomplish much more than you ever imagined.
- Journal
Writing out your thoughts, dreams, and frustrations is an incredible outlet for developing a SASSY life. Journaling is “Me” time. It allows you to express what you want and how you want it without feeling judged. Make sure to include journaling in your daily routine. If you want to make experience more decadent, put your favorite music on and turn on the aromatherapy. You will see had therapeutic journaling can be.
- Schedule
If you don’t have some kind of portable planner or agenda book, you need to get one ASAP. Scheduling yourself is a great way to maximize time availabilities, and keep the time you want to yourself free to play. By scheduling, YOU are in control of your life, and can find ways to fit both work and life into the daily plan.
- Delegate
Delegation is a powerful tool if equipped properly. Whether you’re at home, or at work, delegate tasks that don’t need your oversight. Ask your kids and spouse to clean the dishes and empty the laundry so you can prep for your big meeting. Ask your assistant to staple your work packets or make the follow-up phone calls so you can take some time to breathe and enjoy life. Delegate like the SASSY woman that you are.
- Just Say “NO”
It’s ok to say “NO” – it’s true! It’s important to train yourself with the confidence to say no to propositions. If this upcoming weekend is your family ski outing, it’s ok to tell your boss NO when she asks you to work overtime at the last second. If you own your business…say “NO” to the multitude of offers that sound great, but that may take you away from what is important to you. Saying “NO” to somethings that add to your work load is really saying “YES” to living a healthier more balanced life.
Follow these 5 tips for the perfect work-life balance in 2017 and you will see great things will happen. That’s how you live a SASSY life!
