Thank you for your interest in applying for the Heidi Dennis Wonder Woman Scholarship & LIFT Mentorship Program. Our mission is to help women from all walks of life to thrive by providing them access to education and mentorship.
To submit an application all fields MUST be entered, all documents uploaded, and you MUST agree to the terms and conditions by signing at the bottom of the application.
The documents that you will need before you begin the application process are:
- A letter of recommendation from one of your professors
- Your official transcript reflecting a GPA of 2.8 or higher
- A high-resolution headshot in professional attire.
Terms and Conditions
To Qualify You Must:
- Identify as a woman
- Have a GPA of 2.8 or higher
- Minimum second year student at Broward College
- Reside in Broward, Miami-Dade or Palm Beach Counties
- Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or be on a student visa
- Qualify for financial aid
- Submit a letter of recommendation from a professional entity
Requirements for Application Completion
- Submit the Heidi Dennis Wonder Woman Scholarship/LIFT Mentorship Program Application by May 10, 2024
- Participate in a panel interview via Zoom on May 15th or May 16th between 6:00 and 9:00 PM. Your interview date and time will be sent to you via email. Applicants will be notified of the scholarship decision by May 31st.
- Upload a high-resolution headshot in professional attire
- Upload unofficial transcripts showing GPA of 2.8 or higher
- Upload a letter of recommendation from a current professor
Requirements if Awarded the Scholarship
- Participate in the LIFT Mentorship Program from August 1, 2024 through July 31, 2025 (12 month period)
- Participate in the LIFT Mentee Orientation on August 1, 2024 from 6:00-7:00 PM via Zoom
- Complete a self-assessment survey by August 9, 2024
- Meet with Mentor prior to the Scholarship Award Ceremony on August 27th
- Attend the annual Scholarship Award Ceremony on August 27th from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale
- Meet with assigned mentor formally a minimum of 1-2 times per month (in person or virtually)
- Participate in mentee virtual trainings, workshops and processing sessions (dates will be announced with ample notice)
- Complete a monthly mentorship log
- Complete four (4) quarterly evaluations on the LIFT Mentorship Program (electronic surveys)
- Participate in other sessions or meetings as arranged by SSL’s LIFT Committee
- Volunteer in at least one SSL event
- Engage in communication via WhatsApp group
Expectations
- Agree to act legally, morally and ethically
- Maintain professional boundaries with assigned mentor
- Agree to respond to periodic assessment surveys
- Agree to inform SSL’s leadership team immediately in writing of any concerns that may arise
- Agree to respond in a timely manner to all SSL communications related to this program (email, calls, text)
- Agree to keep my scheduled appointments with my mentor (or notify my mentor with a minimum of 24 hour notice if I need to reschedule), arrive on time and be prepared
