Celebrity Makeup Artist Jessica Carter
Artistic. Flawless. Dedicated. These are three themes that Jessica Carter has lived by during her illustrious career as a makeup artist. Throughout the decades, her interpretations of beauty have graced film and television screens – as well as fashion magazines and newspapers, around the world.
Carter is currently the head makeup artist for the internationally acclaimed Canadian television drama series Degrassi. The current iteration of the franchise, Degrassi: Next Class, is produced for Netflix worldwide. Since 1980, the franchise has won more than 50 awards including The Critic’s Choice Award and the prestigious Peabody Award. The shows have also garnered four Primetime Emmy nominations for “Outstanding Children’s Series”. In total, the franchise includes 525 episodes, making it the longest running teen drama series in television history. In Carter’s 14-year tenure as the head makeup artist, her work has now been seen on a variety of television networks in over 150 countries.
Carter has painted the faces of some of the biggest names in entertainment including Drake, Nina Dobrev, Vincent D’ Onofrio, Sheane Grimes, Mark Anthony, Kevin Smith and Keke Palmer – to name just a few. Carter has also created the looks for multiple award-winning television shows including Instant Star, The L.A Complex, How to be Indie and Spun Out. On each series, she has delivered work that was trend-setting and outstanding.
Jessica’s work also goes well beyond the screen and impacts those around her. While working in 1992 as a model with Elite Model Management in Chicago, Carter was asked to give a lecture to a group of aspiring models on make-up. The owner of the school was so impressed with her teaching ability and make-up demonstration he hired her on the spot to teach full time. Carter has taught around the world. Most recently she was handpicked to lead a two week program for a group of women in Ghana West Africa. Carter created and taught the curriculum – delivering a power-packed informative class to the students. Jessica’s teaching style is direct and end result focus. Once a participant finishes her class, they are then skilled in the art of makeup. She has also lead lectures in the USA, Jamaica, and Cuba.
Always looking forward to the next project, Jessica remains true to her pillars of her career: Artistic, flawless and dedicated.
Carter is available for public speaking engagements, make-up tutorials and one-on-one clientele.
