Kendra Erika is a 22-year old singer/songwriter who is a familiar face at venues all over South Florida. Kendra was classically trained at a young age and is versatile at performing Opera, Broadway and Jazz, but her passion shifted to the pop genre when she began to write her own material at age 15. Her original music got her noticed by the owner of Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale and afforded her the opportunity to open for Australian pop star, Cody Simpson.
The inspiration for Kendra Erika’s songs not only comes from personal experience, but from creating characters and imagining experiencing life through their eyes. Kendra Erika attributes her dalliances with moody pop and orchestral instruments to her jazz and classical roots, as well as the very climate of south Florida. Her major influence is Lana Del Rey, but she also cites Madonna, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.
Kendra Erika is a former winner of the annual Boca Raton Future Stars Performing Arts Competition and was named “Most Fascinating Singer” and “Star on the Horizon” by major South Florida publications. She was also published in the January 2016 issue of the British magazine “Vintage Life” as the featured American artist and her last release “Miami Love” received rave reviews on popdust.com; Vents Magazine, popwrapped.com and Starry Constellation Magazine. Kendra is releasing a new video on July 22nd which explores cinema noir and injects a fresh twist on modern feminism. “The Truth Never Lies” is a deep house track that conveys a nostalgic message and evokes feelings of romanticism and lust.
Kendra is also passionate about giving back to her community and volunteers regularly for the Rotary Club and various children’s charities including PROPEL (People Reaching out to Promote Education & Leadership), Florence Fuller organization, Best Foot Forward and The Unicorn Children’s Foundation. She was also nominated for 2015 Woman of the Year for the Leukemia & Lymphoma organization.
